2019 Annual Review & 2020 Outlook

Comments from the Executive Director

The Comments which follow were intended to be presented at a USGLSA Annual Meeting of Members gathering on March 25, 2020, in Chicago. However, as with most every other event which was planned for that time period, COVID-19 had its way and the Chicago Meeting was cancelled.

Instead, the Meeting was held still on March 25, but by telephone conference call. This Report, provided to the Members prior to the call, was mercifully not read word for word by me during the call, but points were discussed in general. October 2018

Comments from the Executive Director

October brings us to the final months of a Navigation Season which has proven to be solid and healthy for the international flag vessel owners and operators which are served by USGLSA agents. Although early winter weather conditions can always be the wild card, current performance for this Season appears on track to match or exceed last year’s number of ship calls provided by Agents.

U.S. Coast Guard Pilotage Office files Proposed Rule Making to establish new rate making methodology and new pilotage rate increases averaging 51 percent beginning in the 2016 Navigation Season.
